Frick. Is it Friday yet?

November 7, 2007

Today was one of those mornings when I did NOT want to get out of bed and go to work. I seem to be having a lot of days like these lately. Dread of the upcoming busy season, maybe?

Mostly I think it’s just that I lost the happiness with my job a long time ago; I’ve been trying to dredge up motivation for a while now, and so I seem to be down into the reserves.

Hopefully it won’t dwindle to nothing before I go on leave.

So last night I met my best friend J at the mall for a shopping excursion. I’m very proud of myself – spent under $100 and got four weekend shirts from Mother.hood, a packet of undies, and a pair of flats for work, since my fun pointy toed work heels seem to be pinching my toes these days… and I’m assuming that as I get further along I’ll want flat shoes as a matter of course. Seems I’ve gone up an entire half size in my shoes. So apparently everything’s getting bigger – not just my belly.

And is it me, or is it still too freaking early for Christmas? I love this time of the year – really, I do – but I just can’t think about Christmas shopping. Or lists. Or decorating the house.

Or pretty much anything that doesn’t have to do with relaxing on the couch, under a warm blanket, watching a good girly flick.

*sigh* I think I need a girl’s night in. Tonight, perhaps – I’ll leave at a normal time, draw a bath when I get home, and just chill out. Maybe snuggle with my cat. A sort of modification of Bea’s Girl – Blogger ’s Night In, which I managed to utterly forget miss in the ultrasound frenzy I was in last week.

Yeah. That sounds like a fantastic night, actually.

I saw my first Xmas tv ad before Halloween. A world of wrong.

I like some of the stuff in Motherhood’s plus section, but, y’know, it’s November? In New England? A long sleeved chiffon shirt ain’t gonna cut it!

Have you started with the baby clothes yet? (which is my oh-so-subtle way of asking which shops you’re looking at)

Our Walmart started putting Christmas stuff out weeks ago. Drives me nuts. I work in retail and we already started playing Christmas music. I wanted to cry. I know by the time Christmas comes I will want to rip my ears off so I don’t hear Jingle Bells one more frickin time.

I switched to flats 2 weeks ago and the new one’s I bought are a size bigger, too. This kind of foot growing wasn’t something I was prepared for! Just to drive you crazy my friend said her’s didn’t go back after the baby was born!

You GO girl!! Can I come lounge with you? I’ll bring my own cat – I wouldn’t expect you to share. :)

I’ve got sparkling grape juice! MMmmmmm! Oh, and the stuff to make yogurt smoothies – that would be cool, right?

    Enjoy!

    1. It is definitely too freaking early for Christmas. Glad you enjoyed your shopping, hang in there at work, and it’s not too late to join the girls’ night in! If you want to donate as well as do the girly flick, let me know and I’ll add you to the list.

You are pregnant and therefore entitled to as many girls’ nights in as your heart desires. Go ahead and enjoy.
